The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception has marked mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mother Teresa with a number of events, including hosting the Sept. 5 unveiling of a commemorative stamp in honor of the nun. On that day, the 13th anniversary of the death of Mother Teresa, Archbishop Pietro Sambi, apostolic nuncio to the United States, will be the principal celebrant and homilist of a 2 p.m. Memorial Mass in the Upper Church. The Mass will precede the U.S. Postal Service's unveiling of its commemorative stamp of Mother Teresa in honor of the centennial of her birth.
